The application is processed in the following steps:

  1. Application: Candidate sends full application, and department receives reference letters from referees
  2. Departmental interview: Candidate visits the department for 2 days for a research talk and one-to-one meetings and interaction with departmental faculty
  3. Institute selection committee: This is the interview by the official selection committee which is scheduled once the department recommends the candidate; while in most cases the departmental recommendation is taken, the committee is not bound by the same.

Candidates from under-represented categories including SC/ST, OBC-NC, EWS, PWD as well as women candidates are encouraged to apply.

People with extensive and impactful industrial experience are invited to apply for Professor of Practice (PoP) positions.

Institute Post-doctoral (post-doc) fellowships are available in the CSE Department as well as various other academic Departments, Centres, Schools and Inter-disciplinary programs. There is no last date for the applications. The Search Committees meet regularly to consider the applications and arrange for invited seminars and/or interviews as the need arises. Please write to the head of the department with your CV, and information on any faculty members you propose to work with.

Non-lapsable contingency grant Rs. 15,000/year
  • No on-campus accommodation will be provided but HRA @24% of the salary will be given.

Eligibility

  • Indian Nationals,
  • Foreign Nationals who are “Persons of Indian Origin” (PIO) or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), in whose case, if selected, permission will be sought from Govt. of India before he/she can join IIT, or
  • Other Foreign Nationals, in whose case, if selected, appointment will be on a contract basis for up to 3 years subject to permission from the Govt. of India before he/she can join IIT.
  • Institute specifically encourages applicants from SC/ST/OBC category as well as persons with disability to apply for these positions.

In addition to this take note of the following:

  • Ph.D with First class or equivalent grade in preceding degree in respective discipline, with a consistently good academic record.
  • Maximum age is 32 years for male and 35 years for female candidates (to be relaxed by 5 years in case of persons with physical disability, SC and ST and 3 years in case of OBC-NCL).
  • Atleast 2 referred conference/journal papers (of which at least 1 should be in reputed journals).
